The Special Tribunal for Lebanon and the quest for truth, justice and stability

| Chatham House | 2010

This report is a summary of the main points and ideas exchanged during a

meeting on the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) organized by the

International Law Programme and the Middle East and North Africa

Programme at Chatham House in November 2010.

The report discusses the concerns about instability in Lebanon following on from the work of the Tribunal but asks whether instability results from the Tribunal itself or from other factors. The tension between peace and justice is one which faces almost every international tribunal.
