The decade-long armed conflict in Nepal has come to an end with the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in November 2006. The process of consolidating peace in the country is ongoing. One major aspect in this process, the future of the former Maoist combatants is an intensively-debated issue that is yet to be resolved.
