Angelika Spelten

Representative of the Institute for Development and Peace (INEF) / Platform for Peaceful Conflict Management

Angelika Spelten is political scientist and senior researcher at the Institute for Development and Peace (INEF), University of Duisburg-Essen.

In over 20 years of working experience she specialised on theory and practice of conflict prevention and peacebuilding currently focusing on democratisation processes and the role of local and international actors. She is associated member of the Management Board of the German Platform for Peaceful Conflict Management and represents both, INEF and the Platform in the FriEnt-Team. As a team member of FriEnt she is engaged in advising and facilitating GOs and NGOs on strategy development and project drafting. She takes interest in facilitating shifts of perspective between partners from the South and North on priorities, risks and approaches of democratisation and statebuilding.

Prior to her work with INEF she worked for the Protestant Development Service (EED) in Bonn and Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg (IFSH), among others.

The Working Group on Peace and Development (FriEnt) is an association of governmental organisations, church development agencies, civil society networks, and political foundations.
